Subtitling is one of the most creative types of Translation. Studied within the field of Audiovisual Translation, subtitling is a very intriguing profession that requires both translation skills and deep understanding of the technical considerations involved, and the conventions applied. This interactive course helps participants introduce themselves to the basic subtitling strategies and technology, understand the industry and the mechanics of the profession.


What will i learn?

  • NETFLIX, Disney +, Amazon, MTV & Co. You will learn the basics for working with the most popular streaming providers and get the guidelines for creating subtitles as a PDF.
  • You will get to know apps and tools that allow you to transcribe (also your social media) videos automatically. After this course, you’ll be ready for your first transcription assignments.
  • Timecodes, frame rates & codecs, as well as the most important subtitle formats, will be explained in an understandable way and subtitling will be practiced using interactive examples.

  • For this course you need a PC or laptop with a Windows operating system, headphones, microphone and good internet access.
