Short description This course is designed to provide a practical study of computer-assisted translation tools as a key means for translators in the current global context.
Outcomes
  • Conduct translation-related research in monolingual enriched English and Arabic corpora to extract translation equivalents.
  • Identify the features of different translation memory software, namely, memoQ, SmartCat, SDL Trados Studio, and SDL MultiTerm.
  • Use memoQ translation software in translation projects using ready-made and new TMs as well as previously-created and new Termbases.
  • Use cloud-based Smartcat to manage translation projects using ready-made and new TMs and glossaries.
  • Use SDL Trados Studio 2017 to create, process, and manage translation projects of different formats (.doc, .ppt) with new, ready-made as well as multiple TMs.
  • Configure the automated quality assurance (QA) settings of SDL Trados Studio 2017.
  • Create and use an SDL MultiTerm termbase for terminology standardization and consistency.
